Looking Toward a Green Energy Future
The concept for Island Green Motors was born on the island of Nevis, one of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Nevis and its federated sister island St Kitts are together the smallest independent nation in the Western Hemisphere, as well as the smallest member state of the U.N. The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is poised to become a world leader in the green energy revolution. On the Atlantic Coasts, two wind power projects are underway: the North Star Project in St Kitts and the WindWatt Project in Nevis. In addition, West Indies Power (WIP) has begun construction of an initial 10MW geothermal electric generation project in Nevis, to be followed later by an additional 35MW plant. Together with the wind projects, this geothermal power generation will turn the local energy economy into one of the "greenest" on Earth. And over the longer term WIP has estimated that from known geothermal reserves already identified in St Kitts, Nevis and other nearby Caribbean islands, it may be able to generate as much as 1,000 MW of power. Thus, as its bountiful clean energy resources are more fully developed over time, the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis will become a clean energy exporter, in contrast to its present situation as an importer of fossil fuels.
Island Green Motors Ltd. (IGM), with its roots in the Caribbean area, is dedicated to the development and distribution of electric vehicles worldwide, with a special focus on markets where there is local emphasis on the development and adoption of renewable energy resources. IGM's goal is to assist in this energy transformation by supplying vehicles that can be powered directly from these resources, thereby enabling the transition to 100% renewable, locally produced and nonpolluting energy economies.
